Southwest Exposure: A Study of Arizona Orogens is an ode to mountains shaped by fire, water, and deep time. These ranges — lifted skyward by the slow violence of the earth and worn smooth by wind and rain — are more than landscapes. They are living manuscripts, each stratum a line of memory, each fracture a verse in the desert’s song.
Through film, I follow the contours of stone and light. The folds of ancient seabeds, the shadows across faulted ridges, the textures of eroded cliffs — all become compositional threads. Just as the land holds the memory of oceans and upheavals, the photograph holds the memory of fleeting light. These images are not only studies of geology, but portraits of the Southwest itself: ephemeral in their moment, eternal in their form.
